semi-OT: Gutenberg

I have downloaded and burned a copy of the Gutenberg 10K DVD. It contains approximately 9500 books. Since this is a FREE Library, as in FREE Beer, and FREE Speech, I thought it might be appropriate for the list. TGP people also ask to spread the wealth sort of speak. While, I'd like to burn copies to give out at ITEC, I don't really have that many DVDs, but would be happy to burn a few for LUG members. It includes many of the classics, as well as some controversial one, statistics, history, religion, childrens, pretty much a full range of the Dewey Decimal. Some are also relatively new ones released by the authors. Brian JD

Debian, 3Ware RAID controllers & Opterons

The systems will be dual AMD Opteron (Tyan 2882 motherboards), with 3Ware 12-port SATA RAID controllers (9500S-12). We use debian (ie: no pre-compiled drivers from 3Ware for the Debian kernels), and I'm wondering: - - Has anyone used the current 3Ware drivers with linux (preferrably in a compile-your-own kernel environment)? - - If so, what's your environment (disto, 32/64-bit) and how well do they work (speed, stability)? - - Is anyone running the AMD64 port of Debian (sarge), and if so what are your thoughts about using this in a production environment (or should I stick with the plain x86 port for now)? I just found out about pogolinux and their free Fedora giveaway for LUGs: http://www.pogolinux.com/systems/linuxcd.html Someone lese has already seen this, right? Free CDs from Canonical and free CDs from pogo means a whole lot less time buring copies for giveaways. Jon.

Designed this label to stick on LiveCD sleeves

I picked up a package of 100 white paper CD sleeves, and I've designed a KCLUG label to go on the backs of the paper sleeves. http://webgiant.sdf1.org/images/KCLUG-ITEC_cd-sleeve-label.jpg The label is generic enough in that it doesn't mention a specific type of LiveCD. ITEC Planning [Was: Free Fedora CDs]

Better nail down what you want to do. The ITEC thing is next week. Do we know who is going to be manning the booth? What will be handed out? What needs to be burned, (preferably need to know before the weekend so it can be burned and handed off to someone that will be at ITEC if necessary)? What hardware wil be there? What hardware do we need? Hardware includes PCs, powerstrips, UPS, table, etc. Does everyone have tickets that needs them? Badges? Setup people? Time and day for setup?
