I tried out the Trinity Desktop Project this weekend on Debian Lenny. Trinity is an attempt to continue development and bugfixes on KDE3 for distributions that are moving to KDE4. I would not recommend it on Lenny. It didn't make a DM entry for the old KDE, it preserved but did not import user settings. Kmail kept crashing, and I could not run the old kmail remotely over ssh. On removing all the trinity packages (aptitude purge ~ntrinity), kdm had problems determining what session to start. Fortunately, I was able to go through it's session menu and get back to the old KDE.

Linux-friendly bluetooth dongle?

This month's Linux Journal has an article about making your computer auto-lock when you leave your desk, and auto-unlock when you return, by sensing the leaving/returning of the bluetooth phone in your pocket. (You DO take your mobile phone with you....don't you??) We have a few jokesters around here that make this sound like a good idea. But neither my desktop nor my laptop have built-in bluetooth, at least not anything Ubuntu 11.10 can find. Does anyone know of a good bluetooth dongle that works well with Linux? (and is fairly affordable?) Kendric Beachey

Screen replacement on a MyTouch 3G Slide

I replaced a screen on my wife's phone and now it won't get past the MyTouch splash screen. The bootloader says there was a touch panel failure. After checking and rechecking the connections, I can't find the problem. Would anyone be able to help me with this? I would really appreciate it! -- Shane

This was the bank I ended up choosing after trying several online banking sites out. DCU's interface is down to business, quite functional, without looking all web 2.0. The bill amounts for my utilities show up in DCU's website, and DCU automatically sends a check to pay if the bill amount is under a threshold I set. Depositing checks with their android app, like I demonstrated at a meeting, is certainly nice as well. Anti-Virus for Windows

Jonathan, I I have had the very best luck with Avast. (I've purposely caroused some of the back alleys of the internet on the rare occasion just to see what it would do. It did protect my computer very well!) It has very strong heuristics and the latest version has added a sandbox feature that gives extra protection when used. Check out Avast here. That way you have something to compare with MSE and the NOD32 to. I think that you know better than to go the AVG route! :p Hope this helps!
