Posted for Brandon: OK guys ( and gals ? ) the ship-it cd's arrived today ;) It would be great if someone that was going to be at ITEC can come pick them up ( or we can arrange to meet somewhere ), I'm in South East KC near Longview Lake / Banister Mall if anyone is in the area and wants to hold these untill the confrence. Linux Camera Software

I am going to be trying some software to handle camera surveillance. I have four cameras that I would like to centrally control. (if possible) - Two D-Link IP cameras (DCS-1000W and DCS-900) - Two Netbotz cameras (two cams on one Netbotz 500 system) Right now, I am using IPView, which came with the D-Link cameras and it is very flakey, it doesn't run in the background, and it sometimes just stops working. The Netbotz have nice software that I could keep using if I had to. So, does anyone have any experience with any open source camera software for surveillance? I am going to test drive the following and I was looking for suggestions or things to look out for: - http://www.zoneminder.com/ - http://www.silicontao.com/software/lvs/doc/information.html - http://gspy.sourceforge.net/ My objective is to have motion detection and recording. I will probably dump them on to a Windows file server. Thanks, -Russ

ITEC in October

My boss has given me permission to load up some P3 systems, I intend to install slackware, debian, centos, and suse for demo machines. My main problem with this will be monitors (or lack there of) so I will bring my 4 port KVM and hope for the best. I'll be able to man the booth for a few hours as well. Also, are we in need of any equipment (switches, wifi access points, power strips etc...)? too much coffee... I have been meaning to write this little thing for some years, since hit counters were a Big Deal, which was a long time ago. Details at http://tipjar.com/nettoys/counter.html I guess I had to wait for iframes to happen before setting it up was sufficiently simple -- it used to be to do that kind of thing you needed to dynamically generate numbered images on the fly. -- David L Nicol all your grammar nit are belong to us
