Bravo, great community spirit, etc. Say, it's been quite a while since I've seen some of your faces - and some I've surely never met at all. I've been missing my pals from KULUA as well, but since they don't meet regularly, at least I have an excuse. In that vein, I've been thinking of throwing another "social" (troll the KULUA archives to find out why they long ago quit calling them "meetings") to bring many of these folks once again into close proximity. It makes a lot of sense to me that if such an event is likely to occur with low frequency (like an annual summer BBQ or whatever), it might function well if members of all LUGs in the KC area be invited to attend. I'm thinking of KULUA, KCLUG, ILUG, etc. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've got ample space to host such an event. Dustin Decker

OT: need a wireless pager/intercome for my grandmother

Hi, My family is in dire need of a wireless pager/intercom for my grandmother. She needs assistance throughout the day and we need to be able to get to her within five minutes. The best solution would be three wearable devices. My grandmother could wear the base device to page the other two devices. The pageable devices need to be able to wake someone up. I'm doing the research and will find something that appears to work, but I'm guessing someone here has already had to solve the problem I'm having. I would rather have a recommendation from a technically savvy person.

I'd be willing to work on a project to help out move from a Window$ audio server to a Linux Audio server. Even though, I'm starting another project and don't know anything about streaming audio. Well, actually I think since it is a NPC (non-profit), there's a good chance a lot of the "Beer" tastes a lot like vinegar. ;') Also, the job description makes it sound like this "Manager" position rolls in all the duties of a VP, a manager, a tech, a BOFH, and a "universal" programmer all in one. This looks like a job for either the "Terminator" or Jean Claude Van Dam. Not that I wouldn't love to take on this challenge just to see how much punishment I could take and besides it looks like there might actually be some fun things to do here. I suspect the expectations and demands would just burn me out.
