Anyone know of a not-for-profit entity in Kansas City metro or surrounding area that might be interested in website and/or networking done for them?
I've got a capstone project at Rockhurst that requires I help a non-profit upgrade/install for free and document the project thoroughly.
Any suggestions would be welcome. You can e-mail me directly. Regards, Paul
Good Luck!
I run my own business building databases for small/medium companies. Because of profit margins I occasionally 'give away' free databases and programming to not-for-profits.
This is the first year that I've been turned down by all of the NFP's (3) that I approached. The reason stated by all of them was "It's been such a bad year that it isn't worth it to get time/effort donated to them from IT tech providers." When asked what they meant by that, "There are so many people willing to donate time/effort to our infrastructures (which are pretty marginal anyway) and nobody donating time/effort/money to operations or volunteer operations; it doesn't do any good to have an infrastructure when there is no business to operate upon it."
So this year I'll have to pay a full tax load.
