I'm working on a device and might need to attach an external sound card for testing. If I don't really care about audiophile quality, what's the easiest (and cheapest) USB sound card for a moderately current 2.6 kernel? It'd be nice if it's something available off the shelf at MicroCenter.

I have a small C-Media USB Audio adapter, it works real well under linux, never had any issues with it.

Thanks for the response.
Since I needed to get going, I just picked up what they had which is a SIIG USB Soundwave 7.1. It worked fine and was only $20.
That definitely beats trying to configure onboard sound that is not even certain to be connected properly.
