Already done. you can take any Knoppix derivative and boot from usb. BUT, I have only done it w/ DamnSmall and with a boot floppy that hands off to the USB > stick. My old stuff won't boot to USB on its own. Just like some CD-ROM drives won't > boot an OS, older hardware is not able to boot to USB. One year old stuff can though.

Reading the rest of Garrett's posts, it looks as if Toshiba hasn't gotten on the USB bandwagon. Caveat for anyone wanting to buy a PC, avoid Toshibas, at least until the catch up with the market.
