Don't know much about this being a good way to find out about prospective employees. Some of us are very good at bluffing: about four years ago I had never touched Microsoft Excel, and yet I scored 88% on the test for it for some temp agency.

Of course, now adays the best certification for a copmpany to look for is to send the prospective employee to one of those "prove it" test sites. I don't think certificates or even job experience necessarily are proof of competency. I would give a test to any person I might hire. If a person can perform the job tasks and has the right stuff then he/she would get hired.
