All,
I need to get a wiki set up with multiple workspaces and some other bells and whistles. My problem: I don't have time to do it. Time to spec it out? Yes. Time to do it? Notsomuch.
Is there anyone on-list who's set up or admin'd a good-size wiki before and is looking for freelance work? I'd rather just farm this out and have someone smarter than me focus on it.
At this point, I'm leaning toward Twiki - basically trading off speed for the fit, finish and feature set of Twiki. However, I'm willing to listen to arguments about other platforms (Free Software or commercial).
Please contact me directly at gregb@west-third.com unless, you know, you want to have a public discussion about the pros and cons of various wiki platforms. :)
Thanks, Greg
We use TWiki at work for internal documentation and to develop publishable manuals, and it works well enough. MediaWiki though is the de facto wiki, and more people will recognise it, and know how to use it than any of the other thousand wiki's. MediaWiki also has a fairly large array of plugin/addon modules.

The Fedora Project used MediaWiki (python) until just recently when they apparently out grew it and switched to MediaIWiki (php5). It is my suspicion that MediaWiki should be fairly easy to setup. Probably doable in under an hour (assuming your not going to need to theme it)

I run several wikis using MediaWiki. Fairly easy to set up, more difficult to customize.
One of my sites using MediaWiki: http://www.supernovawiki.com

I don't know what Fedora was using before by MediaWiki has always been PHP. Recent MediaWiki versions have required PHP5.

Sorry, my typo. There were using MoinMoin (python)
