For those intrerested, I picked it up, reattached in internal antenna and twiddled the knobs quite a bit. Got a pic to show the result: http://www.geocities.com/k_m34/images/DCP_2010.JPG It's a 300K-ish JPEG shot with an old 1MP Kodak. I took more photos of the TV itself, but that's got the clearest shot of the screen functioning so far. Almost 50 year old tube circuits not powered in 20 years? Not too shabby. :)

It was said to be working the last time it was plugged in (over 20 years ago.)
