Hey all, I've seen a few Linux-related job openings come across the KCLUG mailing list, so I hope I'm not violating list etiquette. Here is an opening that we posted recently, but are seeing that Linux is somewhat under-represented in the applicants. This is a very good time for me to point out that there are only three (3) channels that you should ever set your wifi device to: one (1), six (6), and (11). The reason why is because the "channels" overlap with each other. Channels two through five will interfere with six and one. Channels seven through ten will interfere with six and eleven. Setting yourself up on a channel that's not 1, 6, or 11 will cause interference to others and they will be interfering with you in return. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WiFi#Limitations The chart found on this page will illustrate the problem with the "channels" as selected. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels So yes, Wi-Fi devices having "11" channels is nothing but a lie from the marketeers. Either way, you're expected not to bork anyone else's signal. You'll find the FCC's frequency allocations here: http://www.fcc.gov/oet/spectrum/table/fcctable.pdf (you probably want to scroll down to page 36 (as indicated)) Note that there are amateur radio operators that you're sharing the band with, and they will report you if you do anything naughty, to say nothing of the other users of the spectrum.

I'd drop it in an instant if I had to pay for it. I think about 1 in 3 calls never rings my real phone, and just goes to their Voicemail.

Do anyone in the group have a Google Voice account? What are your thoughts/experiences? How long have you had it and have you had any invitation become available? How long did you have the account before the became available? I just got one last Sat. and my have made the mistake of tiying it to my personal gmail account instead of a more general email account the the rest of the family can have access to. I had requested an invitation 12 weeks ago or so in anticipation of my daughter getting a cell phone. At the time I was not sure exactly what the service would do. Now I know and it is rather nice. I'm able to do some rather sophisticated routing and screening of inbound phone calls. Inbound voice mails are transcribed and emailed to my gmail account. I can now receive inbound SMS messages that are forwarded to email. As for outbound calls I can go to to the web site type in a US or Canada number and specify which of my phones I'd like to make the call from, once I hit enter my phone rings, I pick up, and I can hear the other end start to ring. These are free as in beer, but likely not so much in privacy and personal data terms. Oh and I choose the opption where I now have a new Google number for the inbound, I was able to match my area code and last 4 of my home number. Rod

I had a project today that is probably moot now, but I needed to make about 200 emails available to someone in another office. I was able to convert the folder into a standard mbox folder, which could then import to pretty much any mail system, but I found that KMail, at least, will only print one message at a time. What I'd like to do is "print" all of them to a single PDF document. Is anybody aware of a utility that would take the mbox file directly and produce either plain-text or PDF output? What about a (Linux) mail client that will "print" multiple messages?
