Please let me know if you or anyone you know would be interested in any of these openings. * Location(s): oHybrid - Kansas City, Denver, Oklahoma City, Omaha oRemote Eligible - Yes The Application Delivery Services department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer/Software Engineer with skills in AWS Cloud, Postgres SQL, and Java development. This role will support the design, development, and engineering of large, highly complex payment card device applications and will utilize a variety of technologies and techniques including, enterprise software patterns, client-server, and advanced security principles. Our collaborative teams create products and solutions using some of the following technologies but not limited to Java, Angular, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Blockchain, AWS technologies like S3, API Gateway, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, EKS, SQS, Aurora and DynamoDB. Our engineers use the principles of software engineering to design, implement, configure, and optimize applications, databases, test automation tools, and integrations with Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products to support business solutions that serve the mission of the Federal Reserve System. Successful engineers work in collaborative team environments, embrace agile delivery methods, and have experience with technology with a willingness to embrace learning to meet the ever-changing and evolving technical landscape. Our engineers also perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, are engaged in incident and service request management and provide on-call support for supported products and environments. Required Qualifications * Typically requires at least 6 years of relevant experience. * Bachelor's degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience. * Demonstrated proficiency with some of the following technologies on a Cloud platform: AWS cloud native services, Infrastructure as Code, Python, Java, GitLab, and PostgreSQL. * Proven Java experience required. * Senior understanding of subject. Has in-depth and/or breadth of knowledge in discipline * Performs work independently with limited supervision and direction. Serves as a resource for less experienced staff. * United States citizenship is required for this position. Preferred Qualifications * 6+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience in building scalable applications. * 2+ years hands-on experience using some the following technologies on a Cloud platform: - Python, GitLab, Terraform, CloudWatch, Grafana, Lambda and Elastic Search. * Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies (e.g. cloud services, containers, etc.) * Experience using modern CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling (e.g. Git, GitLab, Maven, Nexus, Fortify, Sonar, etc.) * Experience working with partners to define and execute SRE vision. * Demonstrated proficiency with Agile software development principles. GF oddity

All, Here's one for you. I'm trying to transfer a large file between two houses both of which are on GF. The source house has 1G service, and the destination house has 500M service. I can't get a better transfer rate than 1.1MB/s. Reversing the direction, I can achieve a much better 14.2MB/s. The entire path inside both houses is wired, so I've already eliminated WiFi from the equation. I am still plugged into the GF supplied network boxes on both ends. I also compared an internet speed test run at the 500M house during the xfer with one while no xfer was running, and the difference was appropriate. The no-xfer speed test reported just over 500M and the xfer 480M, so the 500M service itself isn't degraded. Thanks, -- Hal Duston hduston(a)gmail.com Kansas City, MO 816-916-7219
