UEFI on BLOOGLET Chromebook

Hi, Would anyone be interested in meeting up with me to put GNU/Linux on my BLOOGLET HP Chromebook? I got Developer Mode and Legacy Boot, but I'm having difficulties unscrewing the thing to update the firmware to full UEFI, as recommended by MrChromebox. Linux Jobs

Here's a legitimate use for the list: I used to post Linux job listings here when I got them from recruiters. Lately, though, I haven't gotten any. For a while they all wanted Linux + Containers + Cloud _experience_ - often more experience than availability of the technology allowed. The few I get these days are for Windows admins who know Linux. It seems like we've reversed the trend of Linux specialists, and are going back to "the receptionist can change the backup tapes". I've also seen a few postings that were looking for unreasonable scope. Clearly an operation had been pared down to the point where one person was covering three different jobs - and I'll bet that person burned out and left, which is why the position is open. Lately, though, even those listings have dried up. Anybody else seeing job listings for plain ol' Linux Admins lately? -- Jonathan

KCLUG web site down?

https://www.kclug.org works for me. Firefox 111 on Fedora 37. It needs some maintenance, though. The "last modified" date on the front page is 2018. Registrar Contact Info

I've had mine published probably since the 90's - since registration got down out of the three figure range and open to everyday people. Sure, I get lots of spam, but I can't see any connection between the contact info and any particular spam. When my registrars have stupidly assumed that they can just default to not publishing it, I haven't seen any drop off. Remember when we started out with modems and dial-up internet? People who had their name and address published in the Phone Book would freak out because someone posted their real name (and phone number!) on the internet. I think it's a lot like that. I know there are circumstances where it can be dangerous to publish contact info for someone responsible for a web site. I still think that it's irresponsible to let just anybody throw up a web site with no direct contact info available without jumping through hoops. What do you have to hide? I think there are links on the web page for an address that should forward to more than one person who could respond to a problem or question, so it probably doesn't provide any advantage for KCLUG. -- Jonathan
