Seems a bit "richer" in applications, and they didn't do that stupid trick of 
omitting MP3 support like RedHat.

...which is the reverse of what you usually (or used to) find. 
 
You might be interested in the May issue of Linux Journal if you can find a 
copy, lots in there about the 2.6 kernel's audio features and an article on 
Synths.
