Getting cable

Ok, im getting cable tomorrow. Anything special I
should tell the installer, or make sure that he does?
It's going to be piped throughout the house on the
existing cable system. I have heard some things about
'splitters' and want to make sure i dont get a crappy
install that will affect my speed. Any tips or
suggestions? Thanks.
