We don't use Exchange here. We officially use Notes, but I have the option of using Outlook Express for external Email beacuse it was installed by mistake. Your diagnosis of the problem as relating to Exchange is faulty, but it is true that MS's readers don't handle your weird mail "correctly". A filter would take care of it though.
