mandrake (w/ [RE:new distro] question)

Speaking of initial kernels and compiling has made me think about
the initrd file. [For those who don't know initrd is all the modules
for a specific kernel compressed in a tar file for use by the kernel
during boot]. Has anyone ever built one. I found the instructions on
how to do a while back and it is kind of messy. I reckin' we'll
need/want to build one for the new distro. Plus, Gene's problem also
brings up an important feature to add. If someone selects the ext3 or
reiserfs for the /boot partition or / if there is no /boot partition, we
want to compile that fs capability into the kernel.
