I'm at a loss for an answer. I've done quite a bit of hacking related to my SB
Live! and I've never run in to or heard of this problem. Does it lock up on any
record source? Are you trying this as root? Is devfsd configured properly?

The only other thing I can think of would be that there's a short in the line-in
jack and it's causing a floating point opperation error when attempt to record.
In this case, it would be time to buy a new card.

Also, have you tried alsa?
