Feeling stupid for upgrading to Ubuntu 7.10 (was Upgraded to Ubuntu 7.10, now resolution stuck at 1600x1200)

Did you just do the reconfig, or did you drop in the -p high flag?
That result sounds like you used the flag, which I mentioned was very
automatic.  I've just done the command (without the flag) on my 7.10
system and got the same text interface I've had in the previous
versions.

I don't have a printer or video files on my 7.10 system, so no
comment. :)  I also don't think there's a rollback:
