linux distro for laptop

All I know is that I'm am running the KDE desktop with Beryl and it's
very cool eye candy for the desktop, KDM or not. Pardon me for being a
little behind but I have never seen or read anything about Beryl until
now so I'm still getting "up to speed" on it.
