We're getting pretty far off topic here - as well as pretty far away from
reality - but the problem is that BT charges you the same five cents per
minute for "800 numbers".  If you dial a non-BT toll-free number, they
charge you by the minute.  (You can get around this only by getting off of
BT's network.)
