Most charge for each send and each receive msg.  If you are somewhere w/ 
a net connection, then you save your end by going to the providers 
webpage to send and gain the ease of using a real keyboard.  I send msgs 
to my wife this way, when the voice connection keeps cutting out and I'm 
at work.
