I've had better luck with XviD, a spinoff of DivX (gee, yuh think?). I
have had problems with DivX before and never any problems with XviD, also
apparently the licensing issues with XviD are less severe than with DivX.
The XviD folks also know about Linux and create versions for Linux. It
is also MPEG4+MP3 (128k MP3) but seems to work well cross-platform.
