Third Choice of Linux Distro?

Either:

a)Mandrake if I had to use a non-from-scratch distro
or to make a recommendation to a friend.

or
b)Gentoo if I had a fast machine for my own purposes only
and build-from-scratch distros were included.

I know nearly everyone here is a Debian or a SuSE devotee, but if you had
to use a distro other than those two, what would your third choice be?
