Current versions also offer several levels of encrypted traffic and 
handshaking; and having run it for a couple of years to do remote 
administration on NT4 systems, I have to say that it's reasonably fast over a 
decent connection (wouldn't recommend it on dial-up).

Actually, it's not a bad solution to Seth's requirements.
