So, um, you're complaining because RedHat led the Linux world by 
incorporating patchis (which were or became official) which made a lot 
of stuff you wanted work.

If you didn't want to use their enabled system, you had to figure out 
how to make them work on your own.

I dunno, sounds like Linux to me.
