These folks have written new installers for RedHat Linux which allow you
to install in much less space and RAM than RedHat's own installer.

There are two installers, RULE and Slinky. I happen to like Slinky
better, and it runs in the least RAM. Fortunately, the folks at RULE
think Slinky is better too, and are using Slinky as the default now.
Another thing which everyone needs to know about is the "slinky-detect"
boot floppy. 
You create the boot floppy using dd or rawrite, and boot your system with
it. Slinky-detect detects all your hardware and writes it to a file
called "report.txt" on the floppy.
It was written to allow organizations refurbishing older, donated
hardware to find out what they have with a minimum of fuss, so they can
do a proper Linux install.
