Hello:

For those who use debian, please help.

I have an old box (P75, 8M RAM) at home that the only
distro I can install is Debian 2.1. I installed the
base system and I'm trying to get it up to date. When
I try running:
apt-get -u update command I get the following error:

Reading Package Lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occured while processing emusic
(NewVersion1)
 E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
 E: msync
E: The package lists or status file could not be
parsed or opened.

What causes this?
I can't get it updated.
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.
