put those two in your .xinitrc file and try it...

Didn't work. Got any other ideas I could try? Now, I'm assuming that was
the .xinitrc in my HOME directory, right? Not anywhere else. That's
where I put it. Didn't take. Gotta manually put 'em in at the command
line.
