First, NEVER ever use telnet. Secondly, telnet should work out of the
box if you installed it. Third, use SSH.
It easy, install the sshd daemon on the server you want to reach. Add
sshd to the boot sequence. Start sshd. Create an encrypted public key.
Install SSH clients on the machines you want to connect from. Connect.
