Um, you mean like "/Mandrake/RPMS" ?  That's where all the software is.  You
can skip SRPMS for now, that's the source stuff.  You should have nearly
three CD's of .rpm files.

Depending on where you're downloading from, you might not be getting the
installer and such.  There should be a README that tells you what you need.

What keeps you from downloading .iso's?

Some hosts will, given the right ftp command, compress a file, so it would
come over as a .gz file instead of a .iso.  Reduces the size too by about
25%.
