New Kernel problem

Brian,

Have you upgraded pppd?  See /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes
Be sure you have ppp version 2.4.0.  Although now that I think of 
it, that is probably what SuSE shipped with, if it shipped with 
2.4.3.
