I don't know of any drawbacks so I say lets go for it.

Following is my response to the guys at The Linux Show
(www.thelinuxshow.com). The quick and dirty is that they were planning to
do domain registration and put the profits back into the Linux .orgs and
LUGs. Anyway, comment to this thread with your thoughts on placing a button
on our website for this service.

>>Are you guys still planning this? I've missed shows (doing something and
forget to tune in) and have not heard anything further. I think we could do
this at our LUG website http://kclug.org . At the least it would be a great
service for our members.

By the way, thanks for coming to Kansas City a few weeks ago, your presence
was appreciated. Too bad you couldn't broadcast as planned.

Thanks,

Subject: [tls] A scant few days

Linux Folks,
We are a scant few days away from launching our registration service that is
going to be (in part) a fund raiser for various Linux funds. The target on
this service is to charge $18.00/yr for a registration instead of the
InterNIC/Network Solutions $35.00/yr fee.

We are targeting $3.00 per registration to go to our list of Linux ".org"
charitable funds.
Another $2.00 is targeted toward a promotional fund to promote this entity.
Our expectation is that $2.00 will actually be consumed by the "service".
And, $9.00 will go to the blood suckers at Network Solutions.

That leaves $2.00. This 2 bucks is being targeted towards Linux
organizations (LUGs and dot orgs) or Linux companies that want to become
"affiliated sites" to this service. It is simple to do, you put a button or
banner on your site with appropriate html tag, and that is it.

We are proud to tell you that Alan Cox and "linux.org.uk" is our first MAJOR
affiliate.

Please respond back to me if you or your organization want to do this.
