I've heard of this problem before from Comcast users. You're not getting
an internet connection, you're getting manged, filtered services.
Which server are you trying to relay out through? It has looked to me
like they won't let you use any outbound mail server except theirs, no
matter what port you try. (I suppose encrypted traffic to an unusual port
might get through, but I'm surprised they allow ssh.)
