Linux on an old laptop

If I know you are bringing a laptop w/ this problem to the LUG meeting, I can bring an extra 3com card that I know will be supported. The 3c574 has never failed to be supported by any distro with a ftp or network installer. BSD however, caused minor problems for dj_goku at the last meeting. We had to use my laptop to get the right driver onto a floppy for his old beast.

Most distros with installers do - don't know how Debian is doing with it's
installer. The only tricky bit is getting the right drivers for your NIC to
load - I failed to get Mandrake's installer going on my Winbook with either
of the PCMCIA cards I have.
