It's surprizing that Linux would recognize the "DOS" permissions.  I 
encountered the same thing on an NTFS partition, and thought it was just the 
fact that the NTFS drivers use MS libraries or something.  There _should_ be 
a way to force-delete them.  You might have to hack the FAT though.
