Anti-spam SMTP mods

Will the free cert from Thawte work on a server?  I thought that was for signing email.  I signed 
up for one of those long ago via a link in LookOut Express.

He's probably referring to:
cacert
http://www.cacert.org/ 

but Thawte also gives free "personal"
certs:
http://www.thawte.com/html/COMMUNITY/personal/ 

There are other places. I believe there is one in Germany too,
just can't recall the name.
