I think it was comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.misc, though I'd probably
cross-post to comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.chips and comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc.
Also, try out the linux groups, like comp.os.linux.hardware, or even
comp.os.linux.advocacy. Linux tends to get "tried out" on older
hardware, so there are lots of people with older hardware on those
groups, and chances are one of them has spare PC parts gathering dust.
And of course lots of older RAM. Most people don't know what to do with
older SIMMs as most sales channels won't even give the cost of gas to get
to the store to sell the SIMMs (and it costs money to sell them on EBay
to an audience most of which don't even know what a SIMM is). But if
they find out that a kindred spirit needs a couple old SIMMs, some will
send them to you for the cost of postage.
