The Gentoo install processes has been enhanced to allow a binary only
installation. This establishes a baseline 'working' system that's a bit
outdated and shouldn't be plugged in to an un-firewalled internet for
security reasons. From this baseline, you can get using Linux right away
or start the customization/compile process that Gentoo is known for.
