Firewall Distros

http://leaf.sourceforge.net   Bering distro.... based on the 2.4 kernel 
and uses iptables with Shorewall.  I have 133 laptop with 16mb ram 
serving as a router/firewall using the above.

Using syslinux you can boot to the hd, and have access to the other 
utilities you mentioned, but I haven't grokked that procedure yet.
