More on the meeting tonight.

In the interest of peaking some interest, I though I'd let everyone know
what's been going on the meetings recently.

We have internet access now. Hal or someone else has been acting as a
NAT for the IP address that we're assigned by the Ethernet port in the
room. Standard ports are open but more esoteric ones are not. Therefore,
it's not possible to CVS from the library. If you're bringing your
Gentoo box, RSYNC before you come.

The past few meetings, we've had between five and ten different computer
setups present. Members have been bringing hubs, power strips and
cabling to allow for as many as fifteen computers to be set up
simultaneously.

We've had all different distros and people actively helping newbies with
installation problems with distros ranging from Gentoo to the
Linux-related OpenBSD.

Lots of people have come to show of their accomplishments too. Last week
I was showing off Warcraft III running on WineX, a TV Tunner setup and
some other desktop apps. Another member brought a distro of Linux that
boots from CD and turns your console in to a home entertainment center.

Join us tonight if you're interested and don't be shy about approaching
and asking questions. The meetings are not structured in any way. I'll
be showing off some video conferencing with GnomeMeeting and a cheap web
cam. It's also an excellent opportunity to exchange very large files
like ISO's. I can bring some blank discs if anyone would like me to burn
them a copy of something for free (as in beer).

See you there.
