Which to install first?

Perhaps I'm just lazy, but I find it easier to do the Windows install first,
and then I need only add an entry to grub or lilo for it.
Windows "wants" to feel in control anyway, so it's often smoother to install
it and let it think it is, and then take away the master boot record it had.

Subject: Which to install first?

I purchased a new gaming rig this week. For the first time I'd like to try
dual booting to Windows XP Professional and either Red Hat / SuSE / Gentoo.

Which operating system should I install first?
I may or may not want to share files across the partitions, haven't decided
yet or know if it's possible, which file system should I use?

Thanks in advance,
Paul
