need to create a MS Word compatible document in Linux

Well, the Linux/Micro$oft difference got me again.  I have a resume, in
plain ASCII .txt format that doesn't settle well with Word, and of
course Word won't read my Kword files.

I had Abiword on the old box, might it be compatible? --- I know it puts
out XML.

Lacking any other way, I may just have to sneakernet the file to a
Windows machine and do the thing.  I'm getting oooozy nauseous just
thinking about that.  <grin>
