Hello:

Sorry, but I am unable to get dnscache running. I
know it's incredibly easy but it just doesn't work for
me. I am running RedHat 7.2 on a 2.4.18 kernel.

I've looked everywhere on the net,
http://cy.yp.to/djbdns/faq/cache.html, don't see
anything that pertains to me. A friend, who has
dnscache running, has helped me but we just can't
figure out what the problem is.

I'm just trying to setup an external cache. This is
what my conf looks like:

dnscache-conf dnscache dnslog /etc/dnscache

ln -s /etc/dnscache /service

I replaced th namserver line in the /etc/resolv.conf
with:

nameserver 127.0.0.1

Nothing seems to work:

# dig yahoo.com

; <<>> DiG 9.1.3 <<>> yahoo.com
;; global options: printcmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

I don't know why it doesn't work. According to the
directions it IS suppose to work.

When I look at the running processes:

root 974 1 0 02:56 ? 00:00:00
/bin/sh /command/svscanboot
root 978 974 0 02:56 ? 00:00:00 svscan
/service
root 979 974 0 02:56 ? 00:00:00
readproctitle service errors:
................................................
root 980 978 0 02:56 ? 00:00:00
supervise dnscache
root 981 978 0 02:56 ? 00:00:00
supervise log
dnslog 983 981 0 02:56 ? 00:00:00
multilog t ./main
root 984 743 0 02:57 ? 00:00:00
/usr/sbin/sshd
root 986 984 0 02:57 pts/0 00:00:00 -bash
dnscache 1368 980 0 03:06 ? 00:00:00
/usr/local/bin/dnscache

What are "readproctitle service errors"?
What causes it?
What should I do next?

Thanks in advance for all your help.
