For a nice overview of RAID, you can check out http://www.acnc.com/04_01_00.html and from there click on the different RAID levels. Note that pure striping is RAID 0, since it's not a "real" RAID. For kicks and some seriously bad performance I once set up a RAID 1 with 5 columns, then moved all the columns to the same spindle. Ugh. /Mick
