KMail Questions

Hey, all. Evolution trashed my Visors address books so I've been trying
to split Visor stuff from E-mail stuff. I got JPilot working well and I
like it a lot. I tried to get KMail up and running, but couldn't and had
to go back to Evolution. If you use KMail, I wonder if you could answer
a question or two for me: 

1. When I receive messages some are blue and some are red. ?? What's up
with that. I search and read in the manual, but didn't find anything on
that. 

2. Is there anyway to get rid of the preview pane (other than sliding
the divider all the way down to the bottom). 

3. [A biggie.] I can't get the KAddressBook to work. It won't let me
save ANYthing. It simply tells me it can't save. I have chmod 777 in all
.kde dirs, and I even tried it as root. Didn't work. Anyone know what's
the deal with this?
