I emphasize: OLD hardware. 386, 486.
The newest cases I have (in use on the workstations) are AT cases (Asus P5AB
Motherboards); with the exception of proprietary IBM and Compaq cases
(newer, but certainly not ATX).
Speaking of the P5A-B, I've always had trouble with this motherboard running
hot. I have non-overclocked AMD 500 CPUs on them, and these are right from
where the power components on the motherboard were having problems when
pushed to the 500 - 550 MHz range, but the CPU runs within range. I have a
case intake fan as well as the power supply exhaust in each case, but if it
gets into the 80's in the room I'm going to hear a temp alarm.
