uninstalling non RPM programs

How was it installed?  Binary vendor supplied installer (ie star office), 
built from source, etc

if it was built from source, and the source code maintainer was nice, all you
have to do is untar the source tree again, and run the configure script in the 
same manner you did when you compiled it, and then type "make uninstall"  This 
works about 65% of the time with software you find at gnu.org
