Comcast Cable Modem install?

They use MAC address authentication on the nic of the computer
connecting to the cable modem. Therefore if you first connect a windows
pc to the cable modem to make sure it is working, they will have that
MAC address on record and will not allow another nic to connect without
calling them to explain and have it reset (or fooling them). Anyway,
that was my problem, I first connected a windows box that would later be
masqueraded behind the firewall. I had to work around this to get my
firewall connected (too lazy to call them).
