Do NOT connect an Ethernet interface to a T1 jack. The two use different
signalling, frequencies, and voltage levels. Hardware for lots of
different technologies uses RJ-45 connectors, ranging from T1/DS1 to POTS
to Ethernet (including line-powered ethernet) to ISDN to RS-232 serial.
This is convenient and can save money in many cases. However, you have to
be careful when you plug things in, otherwise you might elect a pope.
